Derrick Ossi

Derrick Ossi has been a wealth management advisor at Avail since its inception in March of 2022. Prior to Avail, Derrick was a wealth management advisor at MassMutual from 2018 to 2022 and worked at Northwestern Planning Corporation, where he helped clients build and preserve their assets with proper planning. Before joining the financial services industry, Derrick worked in healthcare as a managed care coordinator for MedAssets from 2006 to 2014. Derrick was born and raised in Morris County, New Jersey, and has always been passionate about athletics. In his youth, Derrick was a Junior Olympic swimmer, state football champion, and lacrosse team captain. He began his academic career at Don Bosco Prep, excelling in their business/finance program. Derrick attended The College of Mount Saint Vincent on an academic scholarship, majored in accounting, and played lacrosse. Derrick transferred to William Paterson University, where he graduated with a BS in Financial Planning, beginning his journey to become a wealth management advisor. While initially majoring in accounting, after watching the impact of the 2008 economic crisis on his family and community, Derrick shifted his focus within the financial industry from accounting to wealth management. He found that educating people on financial planning and implementing strategies to achieve their financial goals had more personal meaning. Derrick has since earned his insurance license for Life & Health and the Series 7 & 66 securities licenses. His mission is to “take the financial planning burden off clients’ shoulders by creating a roadmap designed to help them achieve their financial goals and, ultimately, find financial freedom.” Derrick credits his passion, determination, and success to his family, who was always there to push him to the next level. Derrick now resides in Jersey City, New Jersey, and is an avid sailor, competing in offshore regattas during his spare time. He most recently achieved first place in the Spirit of Bermuda Rally with his sail team. Derrick also enjoys spending time with his puppy Enzo and skiing when he can make it to the mountains.
